Many people have been confused by my domain name, and the cute little rodent which occupies the corner of my website. The actual meaning is something of a running gag which just kept running. If you are one of the lucky few who knows the meaning behind it, congratulations. Otherwise, it would probably take longer to explain than it is worth, so I won't bother trying.

That said, please let me take this opportunity to provide some answers to commonly asked questions:

1. This IS, in fact, a gerbil. It is not a hamster, mouse, or anything else.
2. I do not actually own any gerbils, although I did as a kid.
3. This is not a sexual reference of any kind. In case you missed it, the ultimate in bad gerbil press comes from this urban legend of a fake news article.
4. If you are thinking of making a sexual gerbil reference, let me assure you right now that I have heard them all. You will most likely be very unoriginal and lame, so perhaps you should save yourself the embarrassment and quit while you're ahead.
